Mike Garcia Attacks Trump's Tax Plan

When President Donald Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017, it included a $10,000 state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap, limiting the previous federal tax subsidy for high-tax states. Before President Trump acted, the SALT deduction had become one of the largest federal tax expenditures, redistributing billions of dollars in tax revenues.

All politicians know that when you subsidize profligate spending and out-of-control state taxation, you encourage it and get more of it.

However, here in Palmdale, Congressman Mike Garcia (R-CA 25th District) has joined with Congressional Democrats calling on President Joe Biden to strike down the SALT deduction cap.

“One of my top priorities in Congress from day one has been to repeal the SALT deduction cap, which is why the first bill I am introducing in Congress would repeal the deduction cap,” said Garcia.

Not surprisingly, President Trump's SALT cap is also opposed by disgraced California Governor Gavin Newsom.
