Palmdale Protests Forced Vaccinations

This morning, protestors lined the four corners of Rancho Vista and Tenth Street West in Palmdale protesting against forced COVID vaccinations. The protest began breaking up at about noon, but I managed to capture a few shots of the people still remaining.

Palmdale versus Gascón

The Palmdale City Council has issued a no-confidence resolution against  George Gascón. The Tuesday vote had Richard Loa, Austin Bishop, Laura Bettencourt, and Steven Hoffbauer supporting the no-confidence resolution against the embattled Los Angeles County District Attorney, with only Juan Carrillo opposed the resolution.

Gascón has been criticized for his soft on crime policies.

Christy Smith calls for Broadcast Censorship

Congressional candidate Christy Smith (Santa Clarita) called for bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine," a long-abandoned form of federal censorship. She claimed on Twitter, without any explanation, that "Restoring the Fairness Doctrine would save American lives."

The discredited doctrine had empowered the Federal Communications Commission to strip stations of their broadcast licenses based on how they presented the news. After years of First Amendment abuses, even the FCC concluded that the Fairness Doctrine “actually inhibits the presentation of controversial issues of public importance to the detriment of the public and in degradation of the editorial prerogative of broadcast journalists.”

Pork Barrel Politics

As reported by Bloomberg, the House GOP caucus voted by secret ballot to approve earmarks, enabling more pork-barrel spending in Congress.

How did Santa Clarita's Mike Garcia (CA25) and Bakersfield's Kevin McCarthy (CA23) vote on bringing back the previously outlawed practice?

Here's a hint: They won't say.

Was this picture staged?

Here's Sheriff  Villanueva and Congressman Garcia looking at some illegal pot farm plants. The plastic sheet they're peeking through clearly was cut for the photo.

Did you notice the two circular cuts above the men's heads?
Their faces are completely visible.

And there's plastic sheeting hanging at the sheriff's knees.

See the circular cut just above the sheriff's hat? It's cut higher than the circle over the shorter congressman's head.

Some thought went into that framing.

Term Limits?

Palmdale's Congressman Mike Garcia (Santa Clarita), claims to support term limits, stating on his campaign website that, "Garcia supports term limits because it’s time to get rid of the career politicians in both parties."

So will Mike Garcia oppose a ninth term for Kevin McCarthy (Bakersfield), who has been in Congress since 2006?

Mike Garcia Attacks Trump's Tax Plan

When President Donald Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017, it included a $10,000 state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap, limiting the previous federal tax subsidy for high-tax states. Before President Trump acted, the SALT deduction had become one of the largest federal tax expenditures, redistributing billions of dollars in tax revenues.

All politicians know that when you subsidize profligate spending and out-of-control state taxation, you encourage it and get more of it.

However, here in Palmdale, Congressman Mike Garcia (R-CA 25th District) has joined with Congressional Democrats calling on President Joe Biden to strike down the SALT deduction cap.

“One of my top priorities in Congress from day one has been to repeal the SALT deduction cap, which is why the first bill I am introducing in Congress would repeal the deduction cap,” said Garcia.

Not surprisingly, President Trump's SALT cap is also opposed by disgraced California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Ukraine first

Our congressman, Mike Garcia, just voted for the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, sending billions of our tax dollars to Ukraine.
